Shakespeare Haney Securities Limited (SHSL) currently manage, and act as the responsible entity for the Waratah Select Mortgage Fund and the Sydney Development Fund, in accordance with the provisions
of the Corporations Act.

The team at SHSL have a long history in the Funds management business, spanning more than 45 years.

 The company holds Australian Financial Services Licence No 226348, issued by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, and operates in both the Queensland and NSW markets. The Sydney office was established in the heart of the Sydney CBD more than 10 years ago in response to the rapid growth the company experienced in that market.

The directors attribute much of the company's stability to the continuity of personnel, with 5 of the key members of staff having accumulated more than 100 years of service between them.

The directors also take great pride in the fact that some of their investors have been investing with them for more than 40 years.

SHSL's directors and staff have an extensive range of experience and expertise, as is demonstrated by the following brief personal profiles:


John Haney

John Haney is Chairman of SHSL. He has almost 40 years’ experience in operating and managing the provision of mortgage finance and
has played an essential role in the successful growth and development of the company’s extensive property finance business.

Mr Haney is also a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and New South Wales and provides SHSL with a wealth of experience in mortgage finance and specialist knowledge of the administration and management of the Fund.


David Williams

David Williams is a director of SHSL and heads up the mortgage management and operations of the company.

He has a Bachelor of Laws from the Queensland University of Technology
and is a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and of the High Court
of Australia. 

Mr Williams has completed a Certificate of Financial Planning Principles and Practice with the Securities Institute of Australia, and is the secretary/treasurer of the Mortgage Managers Association (Qld) Inc. He is also an associate of the Securities Institute of Australia.

Mr Williams has almost 35 years’ experience in mortgage and securities work and his experience in analysing mortgage defaults and taking appropriate and timely action to protect investments has been invaluable.

Mr Williams has also completed a Diploma of Mortgage Lending with the Securities Institute of Australia, which included the following modules:

• Mortgage Lending Law;

• The Mortgage Industry;

• Processing and Managing Mortgage Loans;

• Mortgage Lending Financial Statements;

• Mortgage Credit Analysis; and

• Mortgage Funding and Risk Management.


Gina Sly
Compliance Manager

Gina Sly is SHSL’s mortgage manager having had over 20 years’ banking and finance experience specialising in all facets of property finance. She has worked specifically within the development finance divisions of 2 major banks and she has expertise in credit analysis, financial and cash flow analysis and security evaluation.

Ms Sly has a Bachelor of Business in Accounting and a Certificate of Financial Planning, Principles and Practice with the Securities Institute of Australia.


Nick Haney
Executive Director and Finance Manager

Nick has gained tremendous experience during the almost 15 years he has
been with SHSL, overseeing more than $500M in property transactions and developing a wide range of skills with all property types. He has established numerous contacts throughout Australia most notably in Sydney and
South East Queensland.

Nick has completed a Diploma of Mortgage Lending as well as a Masters degree in Urban Development and Sustainability at Bond University. He has also obtained his real estate registration through the REIQ.

Nick has forged many relationships with key players in all aspects of the funds management and real estate fields which plays a vital role in realizing the full potential of property in today’s challenging market.

Angela, Bernadette, Sue and Tania operate the business administration and between them have over 70 years combined experience with SHSL and its predecessors.




Jim Cameron

An experienced property industry figure, Jim brings to SHSL a broad range
of skills acquired during a career spanning almost 45 years in NSW and Queensland, both as a developer and in the provision of development finance. 

Having been a borrower of SHSL for more than 20 years, Jim has a thorough understanding of the company’s lending criteria and procedures.

His extensive building industry knowledge and his experience in dealing with planning and approval processes and local authorities have proved invaluable to the NSW operation.

The company’s presence in Sydney has been well received and elevates our profile significantly in a market where we have been conducting business for over two decades.
